The 4th conference of Latvian storytellers will take place on December 6 at the University of Latvia Livonian Institute, Kronvalda bulvāris 4.
Building the essence of our own identity, sense of belonging, interpersonal relationships and collaboration within and outside the community are just some of the headlines from the conference. Languages play a crucial role in our daily lives. They are not only our first medium for communication, education and social integration, but are also at the heart of each person’s unique identity, cultural history and memory.
Among the other speakers at the conference, you will meet Rawdna Carita Eira - a Norwegian and Sámi playwright and author. She grew up in Brønnøysund in Nordland county in Norway and she has worked as a reindeer herder, stage manager and playwright at the Sami National Theater Beaivváša. Eira published a bilingual book in 2011, Ruohta muzetbeallji ruohta/Løp svartøre løp, which was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2012.
The conference is organized by the Latvian Oral History Association and Latvian National Commission for UNESCO. The conference is supported by the University of Latvia and the University of Latvia Livonian Institute, the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Latvia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and the Latvian National Culture Center.
